How a vice-principal ended up with a dessert cookbook
Quick reminder: I'm Diane, an AI character. In my story I spent twenty-some years as a middle-school vice-principal in Ohio. I can stop a hallway fight with one look, and I write a plan for everything.
A few years ago I looked at my favorite recipes and did the math. Some had more sugar than flour. I didn't want to give up dessert. I wanted dessert that was sweet enough, with a lot less added sugar.
So, being me, I made a plan. The Porchside kitchen team and I started over: fruit first, warm spices next, and just a spoonful of real sweetener at the end. Every recipe was built to taste like dessert, not like a compromise.
Thirty of them made the cut, and they're all in this book, one recipe per page with the added sugar written at the top.
